Cox joined 10 Ohio farmers at leadership program

Dresden-based farmer Jared Cox joined Ohio Corn & Wheat for its Emerging Leader Summit , a two-day program designed to help growers develop skills in leadership , communication and advocacy . This cohort included 10 participants from across the state of Ohio .

“ The Emerging Leaders Summit is our opportunity to equip industry leaders and build on the skills they have already begun developing through their own practices and work ,” said Tadd Nicholson , executive director of Ohio

Corn & Wheat . “ We were impressed with Jared ’ s ag experience and were excited for him to join this year ’ s summit .”

Cox uses his bachelor ’ s degree in agribusiness and applied economics from the Ohio State University as co-owner and operator

CHS ready for action on their field of Cox Seed Sales with his wife Jenny . Cox grows corn , soybeans and wheat and also is an active member of the Muskingum County Farm Bureau .

At the summit Cox learned more about membership organizations , commodity checkoff programs and policy issue priorities . He also toured the Ohio Statehouse , met with State Sen . Coshocton Farmers Market is set to begin on May 4 at Skip ’ s Landing

The Coshocton Farmers Market is set to begin the 2024 season on Saturday , May 4 , at Skip ’ s Landing , 22375 County Road 1A in Coshocton . The market opens at 8:30 a . m . and closes at noon .

Market Manager Kacie Powers has been working hard to get an even mix of produce vendors , bakers and artisan crafters to set up this year . With the new McWane Ductile walking path in place we are hoping to set up vendors along the edge of the path as well as around the parking area .

The Coshocton Farmers Market serves two different groups : the local community and small local farmers and business entrepreneurs . Organizers strive to offer the local community fresh local grown produce , local baked goods , local honey , and local made artisan crafts . Bakers are required to follow all State of Ohio Cottage Food guidelines or have a Home Bakery license depending on the products they are selling . Egg and meat producers must meet the required regulations for selling their products at the Farmers Market and honey sold is from an inspected apiary .

Once again , produce vendors will be accepting Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program coupons for vegetables , fruits , and honey . Visit the Senior Center , 201 Brown ’ s Lane in Coshocton to apply for coupons . This program is sponsored by the USDA , ODA and the Area Agency on Aging Region 9 . Produce vendors will also be accepting Women , Infant , Children ( WIC ) Nutrition Program coupons for produce only ( honey is not safe for infants ).
