Philabaum from First Step.“ Any time we need something all it takes is a quick phone call or text and they get their as quick as they can.”
The luncheon wrapped up with First Step’ s founder, Vicki Laudick, receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. Laudick, a victim of domestic violence herself, established First Step Family Violence Intervention Services all while going through a divorce, raising three children, and eventually fighting breast cancer. Thirty years later her agency is still going strong even as she retires and turns the reins over to new directors.
“ This is bittersweet, but I really appreciate it and am humbled,” Laudick said.“ So many people in our community helped make First Step what it is today.”
