A Simple Life offers healthier, more natural way of living

By Jen Jones The Beacon
In January 2023, Nequia Klein decided to start A Simple Life and began to share with others what she had learned about living a simpler, healthier lifestyle.
She started in 2021 by trying different techniques in areas of her family’ s life that she wanted to change. She started slow and with things that wouldn’ t cost much to try. She also chose things that would be a bigger difference in their home.
“ My main reason for starting was really because all the years I’ ve been a nurse, I really felt like my purpose in the life had not been fulfilled,” Klein said.“ And why not help people this way while helping to promote health and wellness?” This year, she began a small greenhouse.
“ The nursery items came along to help me mentally through some struggles because when I am gardening, I am the most grounded,” Klein said.“ My grandmother, Cora Brown, was an avid gardener and florist in town for many years. As a child, she involved us with many things but never

Klein makes several all-naturals items that she sells. The list of what she is creating to sell keeps going, but some examples include dish soap paste, tallow lotions, salves, soaps, lip balms, specialty jellies, canine shampoo and many others. They are working on a website that will make it easier for everyone to see and purchase her products. The site is www. asimplelifellc. com.

Local pickup will be an option if you order from the site and Klein also sells at the Farmer’ s Market at Skip’ s Landing. She will soon be opening a farmer’ s market in Tyndall with friends – Rileigh’ s Freshies, Petals & Co. and her niece, Ryann, will be creating homemade items.
Klein believes using all-natural items is important.“ What goes in or on our bodies is important in improving our lifespan and decrease health concerns, disorders and diseases,” she said.“ The right to take back some control on our
lives and what matters. To rely on ourselves and our community versus the government is important to me, personally, but not for everyone.”
Klein and her family are working toward being more self-sufficient. They raise animals for meat. They are careful to feed the animals natural foods.“ We have to remember what goes in them, goes in us,” she said.
The motto for A Simple Life is“ Be One is to be one with God, Earth, family, yourself, animals, community – be one with all.”
“ Our logo was carefully articulated to encompass our vision and purpose,” Klein said.“ The circle with the arrow is to remind us of the circle of life. The letters are G for gratitude, S for spirituality, H for humility and E for empathy. These letters are places in a hierarchy which puts G – God – about S-H-E as He stands above all the she’ s and he’ s of our world.”
Klein would like to thank everyone who has supported her.“ Each of you played a very important part, in how I have dedicated myself to a better way of living,” she said.“ We have made huge leaps this year on the land and will continue to push for our final goals. As special thank you to my husband, Ryan, for going with the flow. No matter what crazy idea I come up with, he’ s by my side helping me make it happen.”
You can visit Klein’ s Facebook page, A Simple Life, for more ways to learn sustainability and to see her products. She invites anyone with questions to email her at Homestead @ asimplelifellc. com.
