COLUMBUS - Coshocton County Auditor Chris Sycks,
along with Deputy Auditor Nicole Medley, met with Sen-
ator Jay Hottinger to discuss the need to strengthen local
governments during the County Auditors’ Association
of Ohio (CAAO) Legislative Day at the Ohio Statehouse
in Columbus on Wednesday, April 3. A member of the
CAAO Legislative Committee, Sycks is in Columbus
monthly to keep up on current and future legislation,
and actively participates in the bills that directly aff ect
Coshocton County and its government.
Ohio’s state legislators are in the process of discussing
the biennial state budget. Th e fi nalized budget will have
a considerable impact on local governments throughout
Ohio. Th e CAAO Legislative Day allows county auditors
to meet with legislative and administrative policymak-
ers to ensure that the interests of local governments are
being fairly represented.
“It was an honor to meet with Senator Hottinger at
the Statehouse to talk about the need to support Ohio’s
counties and other local governments”, said Sycks. “I
appreciate the senator taking time out from his busy
schedule to meet with local offi cials. Strong support
from the state will help our county, schools and munici-
palities continue to provide high-quality services to our
residents.”
Sycks exemplifi es accountability, fairness and accu-
racy for taxpayers in Coshocton County. She creates
transparency by preparing comprehensive county
fi nancial reports, establishes property values that refl ect
fair market values and ensures tax dollars are spent
to benefi t citizens. Her offi ce’s records are available to
inspect both in her offi ce and online at https://www.
