Youth leadership class learns about agriculture

On Wednesday , March 17 , Coshocton County Youth Leadership met at Lapp Farms for our March program day .
The day started off with David Lapp explaining to the youth and me about the farm and how the machines work . The youth and I then got to get in the machines . Afterward , we got to talk to Jason Massie and Pat Snyder about corn and bean seeds . We learned about the process the seeds go through and the costs of them .
Our day then was followed by Ryan McPeek from Coshocton KOA . He told us about the events that go on at the Coshocton KOA and what he does for our community . Samantha

Daugherty from Coshocton Soil and Water Conservation had us do a simulation to let us really understand what kind and how much pollution gets into the water after it rains . The youth and I then did a Kahoot , set up by David Marrison from the OSU Extension , to learn about agriculture .
To end our day at Lapp Farms , we watched a video about the robots at Daugherty Farms and had lunch from Schumaker Farms , provided by Coshocton Soil and Water .
Thank you to Betsy Gosnell and to the
Coshocton Foundation for giving the youth and me a chance to learn about everything farming does for our community . Also , a big thank you to the guest speakers who got to teach us something new . Thank you to Schumaker Farms for providing us with an amazing lunch . Finally , thank you to Lapp Farms for letting us come to your farm .
