SATURDAY , MARCH 20 , 1971 The rules have been announced in Coshocton ’ s search for a city flag . Entries will be accepted till the 30th of April . After the submission deadline a panel of 10 judges will rule on the submitted designs , and then city council will decide on a flag . A $ 100 first prize will be awarded to the winner with $ 25 and $ 15 prizes for second and third place .
SATURDAY , MARCH 21 , 1981 Ten alumni wrestling teams met in Waterford , and Coshocton ’ s 11 claimed victory . With 175 points Coshocton had 10 of the wrestlers finishing third or better . Hubie Cushman , Phil Kehn , Jim Carroll and Rick Carpenter each won championship in their classes .
SATURDAY , MARCH 23 , 1991 Track season opened Wednesday , and the Lady Redskins have one on the board . 65-59 was the final score against host Cambridge . The boys did not fare as well , putting up a fight against the Bobcats , but failing to win . “ We really ran very well in conditions that were not really the best for the track opener , with the rain ,” said coach Glenn Gayheart . Rachel Rose and Wendy Weaver both had two first place finishes a piece , while Samantha Summers , Yolanda McCall , Dawn Ogle and Heather Davis finished first in each of their events . The 400-meter dash , which was the deciding event for the girls , featured Megan McGlone , Kelly Baumgardner , Kristen Mauch and Georgette Mertcentile . Andre Robinson had three first place finishes , and was followed by Wade Reed with two . The boys 400 meter relay was won by Shawn Bible , Todd Cilons , Todd Ashcraft and Phett Soungpradith . . The Linton Township , Coshocton County , Cemetery and History Book has been published . Local researchers put the book together covering the township ’ s history and the 24 cemeteries within . “ As we read the various cemetery stones we became increasingly aware of the wealth of history in the township and the people . Finding more records talking to more people , hearing more stories , we found history that we wanted to include in the book . There was much more that we would like to have included but , the book would have been much larger ,” said Marjorie Wright , of the Genealogical Society .
WEDNESDAY , MARCH 23 , 2011 Craig Hamilton has been selected to receive the Division IV Co-Coach of the Year award from the Associated Press . The Newcomerstown High School girls ’ basketball coach graduated from Coshocton in 1994 , and attributes playing under Mike Podlasiak and Jeff Neiger as leading to his success . He has also been selected for several other honors including the top coaching honor in the Inter-Valley Conference and sharing
the District V coach of the year award with Tina Yates .
