International Council
of Shopping Centers

The International Council of Shopping Centers
held their trade show in New York City at the
NY Hilton and Towers/Sheraton New York
and Tower December 9th and 10th. Founded
in 1957, ICSC is the premier global trade
association of the shopping center industry. Its
more than 60,000 members in over 90 countries
include shopping center owners, developers,
managers, marketing specialists, investors,
retailers and brokers, as well as academics
and public officials. As the global industry trade
association, ICSC links with more than 25

national and regional shopping center councils
throughout the world.
The show that I attended is the ICSC New York
National Conference. I arrived at the 2013 ICSC
with the same wonderment as a child who enters
a long awaited adventure to a spectacular theme
park. This is the playground for commercial real
estate brokers, franchises, landlords, shopping
center owners with portfolios of properties
around the country and those who service this
niche industry.
