Iwo Jima 70th Anniversary Flag Raising Parade Come share in one of Gila River’s proudest moments and attend the 70th Anniversary of the Iwo Jima Flag Raising Parade on Feb. 21. The ceremonies will memorialize the six U.S. Marines who participated in the flag raising, including the late Ira H. Hayes. Military parade and flyover to begin at 8:30 AM with ceremonies to follow at the Mathew B. Juan, Ira H. Hayes Veterans Memorial Park in Sacaton.
