magazine and website aimed at being a fun, family-oriented news site that would showcase a growing, vibrant community.”
Those were the opening words of the first editor’s page for the HeyMaricopaTV.com
magazine released on July 4, 2013 at the Great American BBQ at Pacana Park. Despite
months in the making, the late nights and the overcoming of most technical glitches, the
first brochure-slash-magazine was good enough to get some people’s attention—others,
who were not-so-receptive to spontaneously smiling, tossed it to the ground. No hurt
feelings on my part, but if Dora the Explorer had been around, they would have been
chewed out for littering.
