Streets Team Keeps Rollin’ It has been a busy summer for The Streets Don’t Love You Back Movement—not only are they continuing to work with the homeless on the first Sunday of each month, they had another successful backpack drive, helping hundreds of local kids before they started their first day of school. In addition, TSDLYB has started a drug and alcohol intervention program that already has graduated 12 individuals so far. According to Boyd, 155 people have already enrolled through various halfway houses and in over 21 prisons across the country. In the next year, they are hoping to bring the program to the City of Maricopa and to Pinal County. Boyd and his wife, Lucinda also travelled to Detroit this summer to shoot the documentary based on Rob’s book of the same name. “Going back home to Detroit, filming, bought back a lot of bad memories and it also made me see how far God has brought me in my life,” Boyd said, “not only to help myself but to help educate our youth and others to a better life. I thank God for my mother and my wife for believing in me, and I give God all the glory.” If that isn’t enough on the plate, TSDLYB is dropping their latest mixtape on August 22, and Volume 6 on September 25. A New Hope, Backpack Supply Drive for the Homeless Give Love Back, the offshoot of The Streets Don’t Love You Back, and aimed at engaging college and high school kids in the community, just got going and is well on the way of achieving the first time goals of helping those less fortunate. MHS Class of 2014 alumni and NAU student, Rosie Naranjo has been out and about this summer collecting donations to fill a hundred backpacks with supplies for the homeless. A Facebook Page was started for the mission called, A New Hope, documenting the donations by individuals and businesses, with a goal of raising a $1,000. A car wash is scheduled at AutoZone on August 22. First big donation came from Rick and Lisa Luna of Profex Enviromental Management and Pest Control. Other local businesses like O’Shays, Copa Craze, Sports and Cuts, Hart Computer Solutions, and K’Bella Salon and Spa all donated
