A few of our local businesses that are helping folks beat the summer heat, in one way or another... As one of Maricopa’s original spots, you can feel the history and all the generations that have walked in through the doors of the Headquarter’s Lounge. While the Headquarter’s Café may have the best breakfast specials in town and the only place where you can get a homecooked style meal, the Lounge is the coolest little hideaway spot for locals. No foofoo drinks, pool tables are showing some age, but that is what you call character. If the Lounge was in L.A., it has all the makings of a celebrity hangout— dark and quiet, unless you put a few dollars in the jukebox. Behind the bar, you’ll see a picture of John Wayne, as he was known to stop by from time to time—and don’t worry, in addition to the AC, they got the strongest fan in town to keep you cool. Michele Lee Bandin & Brittany Pedretti Looking for a new summer style to keep cool? Sharon and Tobin Gentry at House of Gentry is where you can go to chill in a plush atmosphere and have them work their magic. Located in the Honeycutt Business Center, recent remodeling includes space for Carla Neal, previously of CNC Barber and Spa. Most clientele is by appointment but walk-ins are always welcome. If you happen to get your appointment early, you can always walk down the business center to Honeycutt Coffee and get yourself an ice-cold frappuccino. 44480 W. Honeycutt #107 The biggest ice-cream cones, smoothies, Italian sodas, milkshakes—Water and Ice has what you need to cool down with a treat.
