Igal, although you’re a graduate of the Institut de Gem-
mologie at L’Ecole du Louvre in Paris, where you earned
a HRD Diamond Certification, your gemology pedigree runs
deep as a fifth-generation French jeweler and designer. Will
you share with us a bit of your family’s history in precious
stones and exquisite jewelry design and what inspired you to
continue the tradition?
I remember when I was three-years-old and, each time
my father would design a new jewelry piece, he would
bring it home to show my mother. At this very young
age I was paying close attention and learning. I loved
jewelry and knew that I wanted to follow in my fa-
ther’s footsteps. I attended L’Ecole du Louvre /
Institut de Gemmologie in Paris. While in school
I was working at Rue Du Temple in Paris as a
stone setter. After I completed L’Ecole du Louvre,
I moved to Antwerp, Belgium, to study and later
receive the HRD Diamond Expert Certification. I
specialized in buying and selling precious stones to
Graff Diamonds, David Morris, Boucheron, Cha-
umet, and Van Cleef and Arpels. Later, I moved to
Bangkok, Thailand, with my family. It was there where
created a design for an interchangeable ring and made it
possible to change the center stone. In Bangkok, my father
formed a factory and the interchangeable ring was created.
I finally moved to Los Angeles, California, where I created the
i.d x-change Cuffs of Love jewelry line. This line is worn by
many celebrities, including Elton John, Matt Damon, Kim Kar-
dashian and The Hilton Sisters, and sold in over 26 countries
worldwide. In 2017, I returned to my love for precious stones
and created IGAL DAHAN fine jewelry.
