In the heat of the day at Jacob’s well Faultless in the knowledge of the scriptures Yet Ignorant of its power to overcome Sir the Messiah shall come All things to teach us Hopeful. Encouraged. Persuaded. I am He I that speaketh am He I am the Messiah I am the Christ I am the anointed One I am the One you’ve been waiting for I am the One that has come For this reason have I come All things to teach you All sin to forgive you All victory to impart I that speaketh am He I am Hope to the hopeless Healing to the broken I am a Friend to the lonely I am Love to the used I absolve the condemned I clothe the naked I cover the shameful I restore the ruined I am living water to the thirsty I that speaketh am He. Hopeful. Encouraged. Persuaded. In the heat of the day, at Jacob’s well Forgiven. Empowered. Inspired. For she had found love in the compassiona Saviour Love like she’d never known before Five husbands later she learnt In the heat of the day at Jacob’s well That it is only the love of God that sufficeth It satisfies. It satiates. Forgiven. Empowered. Transformed. In the heat of the day at Jacob’s well Into the city she hastened With an experience to tell the men An experience to tell to a city of men Old things forgotten A new creature she’d become With one mission in mind One desperate Mission in mind “Come see a man!” “Come see a man!!” “Come meet the Christ” Water she’d come to draw Blinded by the prejudice of the day Blinkered by the bigotry that prevailed Jews do not fraternise with Samaritans To the Master she said His voice ever so tender “Ask of me, Living water I will impart Never will you thirst again” Used.
