The Two-Year Takeaway

I AM SURE that your business , like ours , has taken on a dynamic , renewed sense of purpose in 2022 . We are emerging from an unprecedented two years . The pandemic has tested us in ways we never imagined , but we responded in ways that made selfless acts the norm .
Here at A . I . M . Mutual , our team members dealt with uniquely personal situations while keeping our service to employers and injured workers at the highest level . As silver linings go , that certainly was ours .
In the last Connection Magazine , we honored the memory of Michael Standing , who had been our President & CEO since 2015 . He passed away in October , leaving a remarkable legacy at A . I . M . Mutual . I have taken up the mantle as President & CEO , appreciative of the trust placed in me and inspired by Mike ’ s many accomplishments . He left an indelible mark .
In these pages , our subject matter experts once again get to work , profiling some of our initiatives and emerging issues in the workers ’ compensation space . Attorney Lou Greenberg explains the second injury fund in Massachusetts and why some claims warrant a closer look . Our Market Focus turns to Education , with Marilynn Rokes and Kim Walker outlining our custom approach to educational institutions . In another collaboration , Brianna Gentile and Mitch Meleedy give an overview of the security steps you can take against the cyber threat known as “ tailgating .” And Rita Barrett-Cosby tells us why a safety concept , Just Culture , is gaining mainstream traction .
As a carrier , we witnessed a great many unselfish acts from our insureds in these last two years . In our Policyholder Spotlight , we feature one : Shady Oaks Assisted Living in Bristol , Connecticut . Owner Tyson Belanger established “ a bubble ” to keep staff and residents safe , an idea that captured national attention .
As we look forward , we are bolstered by the strides we have made and the ideas continually taking shape . We value the relationships we have with our broker partners and the employers they represent , the cornerstone of our business . We are always here to listen , to work together on issues that arise . Count on that to continue .
