The Cone Issue #10 Summer 2016 | Page 43

You write music, sing, creative direct your shows and write the treatments for your music videos - a 21st century Renaissance Man - would you say you like to be in control or is this something that just grew from following your dream, or a little of both? I like to do things on my own terms concerning my profession. I am a kid of the ‘80s so I have seen how record companies have mislead many artist’s careers with wrong music choices, album direction, image, campaign, etc…And I said to myself if I ever do anything like this, I will make sure that it’s on my own terms. The fact that I studied Direction help me understand what I wanted and how I wanted it. So I’d rather have my hands on everything, and I do. And now a days with tools like YouTube, iTunes, Facebook, Instagram etc…it’s easier to control the direction of your career. You don’t need a record company to work on your development, which actually they don’t do anymore, you can do it yourself. 43 THE CONE - ISSUE #10 - SUMMER 2016
