Letter from the Chair

We make an impact . This simple statement is the newest System Value , and I immediately saw the connection to the work of the Foundation .
Our donors and their generosity serve as the accelerant for programs that significantly enhance care and experiences — investments that would not be possible without philanthropy . The importance of this support was abundantly clear in the return of our Grand Rounds ® Golf Tournament and Celebrating Women Luncheon .
Foundation support of medical education initiatives makes an impact by helping recruit the best and brightest talent to our System . In addition to training in a nationally recognized teaching hospital with a history of excellence in patient care , these residents and fellows are also learning against the backdrop of a customercentric culture . These future caregivers are vital to helping Baylor Scott & White achieve its Vision —“ Empowering you to live well ”— for years to come . Donor support of Grand Rounds is key to these efforts .
The 23rd annual Celebrating Women Luncheon was another example where I saw a powerful connection to the Value , We make an impact . Through the powerful story of Sharon Benningfield , a Baylor Scott & White breast cancer patient and Hope Lodge guest , we were all able to see philanthropy in action . Her gratitude to the Jones Family and all donors who made Hope Lodge a reality was an incredible demonstration of donor impact . Often , we give to a cause
and never know where the dollars went . In this case , the impact was clear .
As the new year approaches , I want to thank you for the impact you ’ ve helped make possible these past 12 months .

Awash in Gratitude

Inclement weather couldn ’ t dampen the spirits of our 20th anniversary Grand Rounds Golf Tournament .

lthough severe weather impacted the 20th anniversary Grand Rounds ® Golf Tournament at Dallas Country Club , no amount of rain will dampen the impact the $ 270,000 raised will have on medical education initiatives at Baylor University Medical Center ( BUMC ).

Presented by Bank of Texas , this year ’ s support brings the total raised through Grand Rounds to more than $ 3.6 million over the last 20 years .
“ We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our sponsors and donors who understand the importance of supporting medical education ,” said Ben Renberg , president of Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation . “ At Baylor Scott & White , we don ’ t just train doctors , we ’ re shaping the country ’ s future thought leaders and we couldn ’ t do it without the unwavering

commitment of our friends who have supported this effort for the last 20 years .”
Texas faces a shortage of up to 10,000 physicians by 2032 in both primary care as well as in specialty care like cardiology , radiation , oncology and critical care . A major teaching hospital in the Southwest since 1903 , BUMC trains close to 280 residents and fellows in 45 specialties each year . That training has a direct impact on the pipeline of physicians who are primed to care for future generations in Dallas : 35 % of residents and fellows trained at
BUMC have joined the medical staff of a Baylor Scott & White medical center upon completion of their training . And an additional 15 % have stayed in the Dallas- Fort Worth area , making a positive impact on the health and well-being of North Texans for years to come .
Philanthropic support of medical education initiatives helps offset the rising cost of educating tomorrow ’ s physicians . Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation has pledged more than $ 5.5 million to fund medical education programs in FY23 .
