Letter from the President
Sitting together recently , a friend and I reflected on the unpredictable times we are in — literally waves of change — and how important it is not to lose sight of why we are here and how our work , through philanthropy , is having a marked impact across Baylor Scott & White .
This became abundantly clear during the roundtable sessions we hosted through the fall with our Foundation board members and leaders across the System . We heard about the commitment — and exhaustion — of frontline nurses and Baylor Scott & White ’ s “ snapback ” strategy to reenergize these key team members through an exciting education and leadership development curriculum , supplemented by increased investment in compensation . We learned that , despite the pandemic , innovation continues . Our dedicated researchers have continued their commitment to developing targeted immunotherapies for the prevention and treatment of cancer . Our digital health teams have remained steadfastly focused on better guiding and informing the patient journey through strategic acceleration and rapid growth of Baylor Scott & White ’ s digital platform .
G . K . Chesterton said it well : “ I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought ; and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder .”
Thanks to the unwavering support of our generous donors , philanthropy plays a vital role in our response to these waves of change , and we continue to wonder and think big while we ride this wave of change . We remain grateful for your dedication and generosity .
My gratitude also encompasses Lindalyn Adams . While I never had the opportunity to meet Lindalyn , her passion and involvement with Celebrating Women , the Foundation and the City of Dallas have made an impact that will be felt for generations . This team has the privilege of continuing the important mission of Celebrating Women , a cause that was deeply close to her heart , and I am confident we will continue to see her legacy live on in this effort going forward .
