mindset to Baylor Scott & White , where he finds an innovative culture living and breathing through the change makers in the health system devoted to regional and international impact .
At Baylor University , Renberg earned both his bachelor ’ s and Master of Business Administration degrees . “ Education was very important in my household ,” said Renberg , whose parents were both teachers . “ I ’ ve always been a learner , and Baylor really helped me find my path as a person who loves to learn .” Renberg also got involved in student organizations , including a student foundation to help fund scholarships for other students in need .
It was through this experience where Renberg began to marry his mission to help others with his communication skills and work ethic . His 25 years of development experience includes positions at Rice University as associate vice president and assistant dean of external relations for the university ’ s Jesse H . Jones Graduate School of Business . He also has served as partner with Dini Partners , a consulting firm specializing in nonprofits ; as associate
vice president for university development at Baylor University ; and as director of development at Baylor College of Medicine .
Most recently , Renberg comes from Cornell University , where he served as senior associate vice president of alumni affairs and development since 2016 . At Cornell , he led day-to-day operations and focused on effectively integrating and heightening

Letter from the Chair

As we go to press with this edition of The Compass , I find myself writing this letter to you approximately one year from the time that our world was upended . While the size and scale of the pandemic are certainly unprecedented , one thing has not surprised me : the dedication of Baylor Scott & White Health in keeping our community safe . This year , especially , I have been inspired by the positive , compassionate , benevolent work going on in this organization , including :
Baylor Scott & White was involved in multiple clinical trials for the COVID-19 vaccines , and is helping to bring that medical miracle to all of us . More than
100,000 doses have been administered by the system as an outgrowth of its mission to faithfully serve and protect our communities , which include some of our most vulnerable Texans . I am fortunate to have received the vaccine ( Group 1B ). As this process unfolds , I encourage everyone to remain diligent , proactively register for the vaccine , and continue to follow the CDC guidelines to keep yourself and your family safe .
Ben Renberg has been named president of Baylor Scott & White Dallas Foundation . Finding a great native Texan talent in upstate New York and bringing him home is a coup for the Foundation and for Baylor Scott & White . Ben will help us write a new chapter for the Foundation . He is already talking about new ways to connect donors to missions that have meaning for them , and I ’ m optimistic that his approach will open the door to even more Texans who want to be a part of the life-changing work going on here .
The generosity of our community has not slowed or faltered during the pandemic . The need in our community is so great . When I think of gifts from Annette Simmons to our Employees 1st Emergency
Assistance Fund , or the Deniger family choosing to support both Employees 1st and Child Life programs , or the Crystal Charity Ball supporting the work of our NICU in advancing care for our micro-preemies , I see people and organizations intent on helping those whose voices need an advocate . These friends are supporting our healthcare workers , the children whose parents are having severe medical crises , and the tiniest of patients who are just trying to make it in this world . Also in this issue is a listing of our 2020 donors and it ’ s overwhelming to see all the names that have stood in support of our System in such a challenging year .
As the historians write chapters on this unprecedented time , I hope they note the heroes in these stories . Every great story needs a hero . In my book , that ’ s the Baylor Scott & White team and the generous donors who have come alongside this System to help our community .
