Letter from Leadership
The Foundation has been a partner in our community for more than 40 years and has benefited under the leadership of Robin Robinson for the past 15 years . In philanthropy , we often talk about organizations enjoying the shade of the trees our predecessors planted , and that is certainly the case at the Foundation . A special thanks to Robin for the incredible contributions he and the team made to advance the mission of Baylor Scott & White Health . Our patients and communities will benefit from these efforts for years to come .
It has been a whirlwind ( some would say a blizzard !) since I arrived at Baylor Scott & White Health on February 1 . Day one started with a virtual orientation with 270 other new employees . We began with an introduction to Baylor Scott & White ’ s core Values : we serve faithfully , we act honestly , we never settle and we are in it together .
The orientation ’ s chat room was quickly populated by new nurses , lab techs and many others expressing their commitment to these values . As I ’ ve walked across the campus , this commitment is visible in the concern for others in their eyes , their fast pace to the day ’ s next important activity , and in the joy of their welcome . During these walks through campus it was also easy to spot the fingerprints of philanthropy , from meeting the grateful frontline workers who have benefited from the Employees 1st Emergency Assistance Fund to the generosity reflected in the named spaces across campus . You ’ ll note this issue includes a list of donors who generously supported our System
throughout a year with unparalleled challenges . From our caregivers to our donors , it is clear we are in it together .
In the weeks and months ahead , I look forward to meeting many of you and learning more about what excites you about the Mission of Baylor Scott & White . Until then , this quote from Kennedy Ngungutau , a Baylor Scott & White employee and heart transplant recipient , really motivated me and hopefully it leaves you inspired as well . Kennedy said , “ I wake up every day with the goal of making every beat count .”
This community is the heartbeat of the Foundation , and so much has been achieved thanks to your generosity . It is incredibly exciting to be in it together with you .
