Jim Hinton Announces Retirement
uring the summer of 2021 , Jim Hinton announced his plans to retire from the role of Chief Executive Officer and transition the role to Pete McCanna , effective January 1 , 2022 .
As CEO , Hinton set a transformative direction – to make quality healthcare more accessible for Texans . Among his many accomplishments during his five years at Baylor Scott & White , he led one of the most successful COVID-19 responses in the industry ; the system is now stronger post-pandemic in nearly every measure .
A familiar name around Baylor Scott & White , President Pete McCanna has served side by side with Mr . Hinton for the past five years . The two have a long history of collaboration , first working together in New Mexico two decades ago . McCanna ’ s focus on operational excellence has helped Baylor Scott & White become one of the most disciplined health systems in the country . “ I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to extend Baylor Scott & White ’ s legacy of success as we shape the future of healthcare delivery in new and innovative ways ,” McCanna said .
Jim Hinton will retire on January 1 , 2022 .
