SPECIAL EVENT

Services for All Cancer Diagnoses

Beyond the Bag

Join us for a virtual silent auction January 14-22 !

fter thoughtful consideration and consultation with Baylor Scott & White Health executive and clinical leaders , the difficult decision was made to cancel Beyond the Bag 2022 , benefiting the Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center . In light of the uncertainties surrounding the new variant , we believe this to be the most responsible action to protect our many sponsors and guests and the healthcare workers faithfully serving on the frontline . The mission of the Center has not stopped and non-medical cancer support services continue to be needed in our community . Through the generous donations from companies and individuals who have already contributed to the event , we have raised more than $ 200,000 toward our goal of $ 350,000 to support the addition of a nurse navigator to meet the growing number of patients . We hope we can count on you to help continue this support ! We invite you to join us for a special silent auction event in lieu of the event . This silent auction is completely virtual and will take place Friday , January

Our “ traditional ” view of lung cancer is changing . Now the most common cancer worldwide , lung cancer diagnoses have increased 84 % in women over the past 10 years . Although smoking history and older age remain the predominant risk factors for lung cancer development , current estimates are that up to 25 % of patients who develop lung cancer have never smoked .
With Baylor Scott & White ’ s Comprehensive Advanced Lung Program and new early detection screenings for lung cancer , we have an opportunity to intervene at a much earlier stage of the cancer . Despite the very serious prognosis of lung cancer , earlier-stage cancers can be caught and even cured .
The Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center nurse navigator assists patients and their families through diagnosis , treatment , and into survivorship , offering guidance every step of the way .
