Letter from the Chair
In the world of healthcare , the pursuit of excellence is not just a goal — it ’ s a relentless commitment to the well-being of patients .
I ’ ve had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the dedication and care exhibited by the exceptional staff and physicians at Baylor University Medical Center , the System ' s flagship campus in North Texas . I ’ ve heard stories of lives forever changed by the kindness and expertise of our medical professionals , stories that reaffirm Baylor Scott & White ’ s commitment to being a source of hope and healing in times of need . It ’ s these experiences that reinforce that , at BUMC , excellence isn ’ t just a word ; it ’ s motivation woven into the very fabric of the institution .
This commitment to excellence was evident throughout this issue of The Compass : This dedication is demonstrated in the way countless clinicians across BUMC care for patients and families facing challenging health journeys , like the care received by John and Colette Dishman . This perseverance has been recognized in the latest U . S . News & World Report rankings , where BUMC secured its place among the top medical centers in Texas . BUMC is not just embracing technology ; they ’ re revolutionizing care and pursuing new approaches for better patient outcomes and experiences . This devotion is evident as we reflect on the legacy of the late Dr . William Roberts — a pioneer in preventive cardiology whose contributions elevated not only our institution but the entire field of cardiac care . The heartfelt reflections from his colleagues and friends remind us that the pursuit of excellence is a journey that continues beyond a lifetime .
Excellence is not a destination ; it is a journey we undertake every day , driven by our shared commitment to make a difference . It is through the generosity of individuals like you that we can innovate , excel and empower patients and communities to live well . Thank you for joining us in this pursuit .
