Letter from
Leadership
Uncertain. Unprecedented. Unimaginable
challenges. These words have appeared in
countless discussions and news headlines
as COVID-19 has dominated conversations.
However, in my role at Baylor Scott
& White Health, and as I serve as interim
president of BSW Dallas Foundation,
there are other words that immediately
come to mind when I think about how our
employees, our community and our
organization have responded over the past
six months: Faithful service. Overwhelming
generosity. Unwavering commitment.
Our employees have faithfully served
our patients through evolving guidelines,
layers of PPE, and caring for those who
are COVID-positive and those receiving
care unrelated to the virus.
Our North Texas community has
responded generously to support
our response to this pandemic and
our caregivers on the front line,
donating more than $4 million to
our COVID-19 relief efforts.
Our organization has ensured our
facilities stand ready to meet all the
healthcare needs of our community,
developing a COVID-19 Safe Care
plan, a combination of new preventive
measures and digital offerings, to
protect the health and well-being of our
patients and caregivers so they can feel
confident receiving or delivering care.
This faithful service and relentless focus on
safely caring for those who need us resulted
in BSWH again being recognized as the
most awarded not-for-profit health system
in Texas by U.S. News & World Report.
While we will continue to hear about
the challenges and uncertainty as we
approach the fall, I am confident in Baylor
Scott & White and our team’s efforts
to help Texans navigate whatever the
coming months may bring.
The BSW Dallas Foundation will continue
serving as the engine that empowers our
advanced clinical care, education and
research. As we prepare for the future, we
are working diligently to identify the leader
who is uniquely equipped to become
the Foundation’s next president. I am
encouraged by the amount of interest in
this role and confident you will have
pride in whomever ultimately takes on this
very special job. In the meantime, please
do not hesitate to reach out to me as we
continue to perform the meaningful work
of the Foundation.
