BEYOND THE BAG

BENEFITING THE JOAN KATZ RESOURCE CENTER

Securing funding for future generations

Imagine a world where every patient , regardless of their financial situation , type of cancer diagnosis or location of medical care , has access to the support they need to navigate their journey — now and always . This vision is more than just a dream ; it is a possibility that you can continue to help turn into a reality .
Since opening its doors in 2010 , the Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center has provided free non-medical services to 17,000 individuals with a cancer diagnosis . From emotional support to assistance with understanding complex treatment plans , our patient navigators are there every step of the way , from diagnosis to survivorship . The impact these services have on patients ’ lives is transformative .
Although the number of patients turning to the Center for guidance continues to increase , we are confident we can continue to meet the needs of our community , with friends like you .
Beyond the Bag , hosted by Baylor Scott & White All Saints Health Foundation , has raised over $ 4.9 million to assist in enabling certified lay and nurse navigators at the Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center to walk alongside anyone affected by cancer .
We invite you to partner with us for a special evening including dinner , dancing , live entertainment , and fantastic silent and live auctions . Your support will play a crucial role in expanding the Center ’ s patient navigator endowment , ensuring that future generations can continue to access the exceptional care and support for which the Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center is known .
Thank you for considering this heartfelt request to join other supporters in securing a future where no one has to face cancer alone .

Celebrating one year of Engle : a milestone anniversary

In October , facility dog Engle celebrated her one-year anniversary working in the Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center at Baylor Scott & White – Fort Worth .
Supported by funding raised at the 2023 Beyond the Bag event , Engle has made a difference for patients , families and care team members alike . Happy anniversary , Engle !

“ The infusion clinic has been my ‘ third place ’ for a while now . While I

enjoy the friendly staff and meeting new people , it is a challenge to get motivated and go for yet another treatment . That changed one day when I met Engle . It feels like the stress is just lifted away when she comes in to visit . It truly feels like we have been visited by an angel . — A Joan Katz Cancer Resource Center patient
