Perhaps there is always a possibility that I will go back to practicing, but not too soon because I’m currently enjoying my journey to climb the corporate ladder where I got the chance to compete with everyone from different backgrounds and experience level. Financial industry is an interesting playing field which keeps on evolving and it’s pretty much my kind-of –game. I guess the most important question to myself is what’s my next move after London and New York? Perhaps exploring emerging market like Indochina or going into another economic superpower like China? Or maybe having the full visibility of Maybank global operations? This would be my main consideration for the next two years. Advices for the masses Regardless whatever your choice is, you must give your full commitment and aim to be the best. You must learn to separate ‘noises’ and ‘real deal’. When I decided to quit practising, someone told me that I made a big mistake. Few years later, the same person who made that comment, sent his resume to me asking whether he can be a part of my team. Go for it and don’t limit yourself. Make time to invest in yourself, be it your attire, reading material and types of portfolio that you are dealing with. Always be humble and learn to take criticism well. Find a good mentor. A good mentor will definitely make a big impact in your life. Ask Sheryl Sandberg, Christine Lagarde and Ariana Huffington, they will give you the same answer! Finally, aim to establish your personal branding.
