In the fall, Dr. Uzma Syed was presented the Pioneer of Osteopathic Medicine Medal at UNE COM's White Coat Ceremony for her service to the college and to the osteopathic profession as a whole. There, she addressed the incoming Class of 2026 as the keynote speaker.
Dr. Syed is a board-certified Infectious Disease physician, partner at South Shore Infectious Disease, Chair of the COVID-19 Task Force, and is the Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Center of Excellence at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center.
She is the founder & CEO of a 501c3 organization Align Us Inc, which provides career mentorship for high school students. Her humanitarian work has spanned from refugee resettlement to annual school supply, holiday toy drives to serving at soup kitchens. Dr Syed has volunteered with UNICEF for children’s rights, the Global Youth Assembly and the United Nations to help promote mobile health to underserved countries.
Dr Syed has been featured as an expert on several media outlets as an expert in Infectious Diseases including BBC, CBS, ABC,NPR, New York Times, Newsweek and others.
