For her online OMM rotation with Amelia Bueche, DO and Stacey Pierce-Talsma, DO, recent graduate, Anastasia Naritsin, DO '21, took her writing assignment further and created a video modeled after the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association (JAOA) OMT Minutes, which featured physicians practicing OMT in a short video segment.
“I had never really done anything like it before,” recalls Dr. Naritsin, “so the hardest part for me was figuring out the angles, the lighting and how to come to terms with watching a recording of myself… the actual demonstration of the technique and voice over was easy.” After she created the script, Dr. Naritsin enlisted the help of her sister to assist with the editing and incorporating voice overs, figures, etc. “My sister was a huge help with creating the video,” she recalls. “I don't think I could have done it alone.” In all, the video took about 2-3 weeks to complete.
The video demonstrates how OMT can be used to treat maxillary sinus congestion and pain, and specifically how utilizing different direct and indirect techniques can induce drainage and subsequent relief for patients suffering from chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS).
Although the JAOA discontinued their OMT Minutes by the time the video was completed, Dr. Naritsin’s video was featured in the Maine Osteopathic Association’s Newsletter.

UNE COM 2021 STUDENT OF THE YEAR
Maria D. Jones, OMS-IV was selected as 2021 UNE COM Student Doctor of the Year. Student Doctor Jones has been an exemplary leader in her community and on the national level. During her time on campus, she served as President for the Student Government Association (SGA). For her efforts, she was elected to a national position as the 2019-2020 National First Vice Chair for the Council of Osteopathic Student Government Presidents (COSGP). She continues her advocacy for her fellow students as the Curriculum Committee Co-Chair for the Student Government Association.
Student Doctor Jones represented UNE COM in the national running for COSGP Student Doctor of the Year.
