A Look at Current COM Students In Action
COM students, faculty, and staff participated in the recent Interprofessional Student Poster Session on May 1st at the UNE Portland Campus, sponsored by the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC).
Second-year COM students, Justin Doroshenko and Seth Butler, collaborated on the research poster, "Stop the Bleed: A Collaborative UNE Effort to Improve Community Trauma Education and Awareness" with Frank Daly, PhD as one of their faculty mentors.
First-year COM student, Joanna Sajdlowska, collaborated on "Eastern Maine Rural Health Immersion: A CUP AHEC Scholar Learning Activity," with the guidance of Ian Imbert, MPH, and Jenifer Van Deusen, MEd.
Second-year student, Justine Monthony, represented COM in "Collaborate, Advocate, Respect, Empower," and Adam Uslan, OMS-II joined in on the "UNEfied" team immersion experience.
Second-year student, Melissa Mariano, collaborated on "Lessons from an Interprofessional Simulation," while Lauren DeMaris, OMS-III participated in "Improving Patient Care in Home Visits Through an Interprofessional Approach."
Second-year students, Rodger Carter, Alina Cheema, Divya Padmanabhan, Jane Suh, and first-year student, Amy Courtney, collaborated on "The Waiting Room for People With Chronic Pain," guided by Ling Cao, M.D., Ph.D.
First-year student, Kristin DeMayo, presented "An Interdisciplinary Approach to SBIRT," and Victoria Stacey Thieme, D.O. was faculty mentor for "Best Practices for Working with the LGBTQ+ Client Within Health Care Professions."
