Christoph Straub, PhD

One of the newest faculty members in COM is Christoph Straub, PhD. He is an assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Science. He was recently awarded a mini-grant for “Adaptive changes in nucleus accumbens signaling during chronic pain” by the Office of Research & Scholarship at UNE. In addition to his teaching, Dr. Straub will oversee the new 2-photon microscope purchased this year by the Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE). Learn more.

David Mokler, PhD

David J. Mokler, PhD was recently conferred the title of Professor Emeritus of Biomedical Sciences by the UNE Board of Trustees. Dr. Mokler retired as Professor of Pharmacology in June 2018 but has continued as Interim Chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences in the College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Mokler has also recently co-authored two research articles in the peer-reviewed journal Frontiers of Neuroscience. These papers are continuations of the work of Dr. Mokler and colleagues on the effects of exposure to prenatal protein malnutrition on the brain of rats. Dr. Mokler collaborated with colleagues from Harvard Medical School, Boston University School of Medicine and the University of New Hampshire on this work. Learn more.
