DR. WILLARD AND THE SPINE INTERVENTION SOCIETY

For the past 15 years, Dr. Willard has been associated with the Spine Intervention Society as an anatomist. This society is composed of physicians that perform interventional procedures in and around the vertebral column for individuals who suffer from chronic back and neck pain as well as headaches. For over 10 years, he has been an instructor in their teaching courses, performing spine dissections here at UNE and transporting these teaching specimens to Society Courses given throughout the United States and well as in England and Europe. Last year, he was promoted to the rank of Master Instructor in the Society. This August, he was invited to speak on the contents of the epidural space at their annual meeting in Chicago, following which, he was presented with the Society’s “Instructor of the Year” award.

This Fall, he will be engaging UNE COM Students to prepare several dissections for transport to Munich, Germany for the European Spine Intervention Society’s annual meeting in the Spring of 2019.

Dr. Willard is currently working on an opportunity for COM students to shadow at RiverRidge Center in Kennebunk, ME, a neuro-rehabilitation center.
