Faces of Transformation
Ela GENÇTÜRK ‣
Transformation is a marked change in form, nature or appearance. It can happen in many areas of life, such as culture, society, technology, education, and even in ourselves.
Society changes with values, behaviours and lifestyles. It makes people adopt to new culture connecting past and present. Social transformation effects how people live and work together. For example, in the past, people used to live with their whole large family. But today most of us have smaller families or most of the families live far away from each other.
Technology changes communication, work and entertainment. It is one of the fastest transformations. For example, people used to use their phones only for calling but nowadays people use them to entertain, study, connect to the whole world. We can see this change in office life too. People had to work in offices in the past but now they can work from their homes thanks to technology.
Education has transformed with new methods and tools. Transformation in education gives more opportunities to students. Education transformed with technology. For example, students can have online classes, read digital books and get help from the internet for their homework or exams.
Transformation does not only happen in society, but also in our personal lives. This can be seen in every step of life, like getting a driver’ s license, moving, going to college, getting married … Growing transforms people’ s responsibilities. Education transforms the way people think. Career choices transform a person’ s daily life and identity. Personal transformation shows that change is a natural part of human growth.
To sum up, transformation is a journey toward a better future. As the writer Octavia Butler said“ All that you touch, you change. All that you change, changes you. The only lasting truth is change.”
