Innovation is one of the most important parts of our lives today. It helps us solve problems, improve our world, and make life easier. Many people work on innovative ideas and projects to create something new and useful. I had the chance to interview Mrs. Dede, who has experience with innovation projects at our school. During our conversation, I learned about what makes an idea truly innovative and how leaders can inspire teams to succeed. Here is what she shared with me.
Derya Ela AYAR: Hello Mrs. Dede, I would like to have an interview with you.
Derya Ela AYAR: What characteristics must an idea have to be innovative? Is it appropriate to say something is innovative just because it is new? If not, what conditions are necessary for a project to be an innovative project?
Mrs. Dede: For an idea to be innovative, it is not enough for it to be new. For an idea to be an innovative project, the idea should not have been done before or should advocate a different approach from existing ideas, add tangible value to an existing problem in a new sector, must be feasible, should aim at problem-solving, be developable, and sustainable.
Mrs. Dede: With pleasure.
Derya Ela AYAR: As you know, innovation is a very important part of our lives. Innovation studies have been carried out in our country for many years. Have you done an innovation project during this process, or is there a project you plan to do?
Mrs. Dede: I have not done a project on my own, but there are studies we have done with the students of the“ Innovation and Entrepreneurship” club in our school.
Derya Ela AYAR: How should leaders contribute to innovation projects, and what is their importance?
Mrs. Dede: Not just a process manager, but a source of inspiration and a strategic guide, a leader unleashes the potential of team members, completes the project successfully, and creates a sustainable innovation culture in the long term.
Derya Ela AYAR: Thanks for this interview, Mrs. Dede.
Mrs. Dede: Any time, Derya.
