Mandela ’ s Legacy : Re-designing My Vision by Exploring a Social Justice Journey

Zerrin Özcan - Defne Arkun

It is clear that Mandela has changed my life remarkably because he showed how a man of social justice should walk through his path . As the first black president of South Africa did away with apartheid through relentless fight that is transitional in nature where compassion and fortitude have shown fidelity .
Mandela at the early stages of his life was a fighter against apartheid that imprisoned him for twenty-seven years , but he persisted with courage . Two years after his release in 1990 , Mandela became the embodiment of peace and forgiveness heralding a new day for South Africa — an example that reconciliation can act as empowerment .
Mandela ’ s legacy will be the memory of fortitude , forgiveness and unflinching struggle for justice that leads to transformation .
My goals are highly influenced by such life-changing experiences with Mandela . Fueled by a steadfast passion to advocate for social transformation , Mandela planted the seed of an inner urge within me to make positive advancements for humanity . Inspired by Nelson Mandela ’ s example , I dream of a peaceful future where every every wrong will be right and violence is nonexistent . Mandela ’ s biography serves as a vivid narrative woven into the fabric of human history , giving me hope for a better tomorrow where justice and kindness prevail .
The end of apartheid , brought about by the fairness reconciliation and uniformity which were chosen to be president in 1994 are considered as Mandela ’ s legacy . His endless fight against the existing system of injustice not only transformed a country but also became an international example for creating a more kind and fair community .
My story of meeting Mandela changed my worldview completely in relation to challenges . He could turn pain into a power for good , which has become my ideal of the purpose in life .
