There Are No Obstacles Only Stepping Stones

In this edition of The CommitTED , we invited our students to reconsider the impact of obstacles on our minds and society and look for the ways to reinterpret them for a world free of bias . As ever , our students approached this task with a great deal of enthusiasm , optimism , and intuition .
This collection is particularly interesting in that our students examine the phenomenon from a variety of different perspectives . Majority of our students depict the importance of embracing and accommodating physical and mental disabilities . They urge the society to undertake responsibility for improving and maintaining equal opportunities for the physically and mentally challenged people . These students appear to be optimistic and determined to work towards indulging the needs and adopting a mind set for treating people equally rather than trying to help them in a world which almost ignores their presence in its structure and operations . Our students highlight and celebrate the determination and success of sports people at the Paralympic Games , as an example of coping with the challenges and proving the power of equality and achievement when given the opportunity . mental barriers and moving beyond the limits . They particularly focus on gender equality and equality in education as two major issues that need to be improved in our society . These students voice the vital impact of effective communication and removing bias in breaking down the barriers to education and communication . Furthermore , some students dwell on considering immigration as a means of cultural enrichment and invite us all to embrace diversity , create equality for all and eliminate bias .
All this makes for an especially interesting edition of The CommitTED where our students have responded to the theme with creativity , originality and , above all else , in a socially responsible way . The variety of contributions in this volume make it a particularly memorable one .
To conclude with the quote of Enid Blyton
‘ The best way to treat obstacles is to use them as stepping stones . Laugh at them , tread on them , and let them lead you to something better .’
