How would you feel if you step into a room and it turns pitch black in under a second ? Frightened ? Confused ? Or , perhaps , panicked ?
At first , it ’ d be terrifying to have your surroundings change so swiftly . But after a while , you ’ d adapt and you ’ d slowly start seeing again .
This was just a concrete example of what would happen if things were to change abruptly . If you ’ ve been through changes recently , you probably are familiar with the feeling of being stunned because of how foreign everything is to you . You feel taken aback by your feelings and thoughts because you ’ re somewhat unsure of what you ’ re supposed to do . Do I look presentable ? Where am I supposed to go ? Who might help me ? Is this going to go terribly ? Am I going to be okay ?
Your mind starts producing thoughts about anything and everything that catches your eye and the number of thoughts puts you in a spiral caused by anxiety . Nothing seems to be going as it should , or is it ? Your mind is playing tricks and alas , you ’ re falling for them ! Luckily , putting a stop to this is in your hands .
It ’ s simple . Look in the mirror , lock eyes with yourself , and quote : “ I am capable .”
Specifying won ’ t be needed . Once you ’ ve lured your mind into thinking that you can do everything , you can integrate this into your daily occurrences .
You might feel unadjusted to changes at first , but since you ’ ve convinced yourself that you ’ re capable , that feeling will leave its place certainty . Whatever is that you ’ re faced with , does not stand a chance of winning against your unfaltering attitude .
Do not let your disturbance get in the way of new experiences . Just take a step back , assure yourself that you ’ re competent , and take an even more significant step forward .
