Upstairs

Cantuğ Bİrİcİk

Imagine life is a building that only has stairs in it , stairs that are impossible to see where they lead up to . You step onto the first rung of these infinite stairs . For a moment , you think about giving up after a few hundred steps . You want to put an end to this meaningless trip . However . the winner is curiosity in the fight between curiosity and tiredness . You succumb to your curiosity about where this will end .
You continue untill you realize that your legs are insufficient to support your body . You sit where you are . Even though you can not walk anymore , you are aware of the fact that it is meaningless to go down the stairs , to the middle of nothing . With your last strength , you stand up . You continue walking up the stairs that have drained your strength up until now .
After a while , you see a light coming from a shabby , wooden door . The door is closed . The only way out seems to be this door . You double your power with the hope of reaching the door . Now the steps seem more bearable . You go faster with the desire of ending this trip . At last , you reach the door with the unconsciousness that tiredness gives .
You see a text carved on the door , it says “ Success ”. That is the moment you understand that each step of the stairs was a vital complement of the path that reaches here , that reaches success . You understand that seeing the steps as hassles only makes your work harder . With these thoughts , you hold the handle of the door , turn it slowly , and listen to the creak of the door as it opens . This voice is the voice of ‘ success ’.
