Hurdle races are physical , but I would like to use this as a metaphor to refer to hurdles in our minds . We experience many problems in every moment of our lives , and no one ’ s life is perfectly smooth . On the other hand , everyone has a different way of solving problems ; without that , life would not be a livable place . However , the pain and solution for physically disabled people are slightly different .
Paralympic athlete Liam Malone has a rare condition . Although he had legs and feet , when he was born , he had problems with his two fibula bones and , therefore , his feet . He had his legs amputated below the knee when he was 18 months old and had been living with an artificial limb . However , he won a gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics .
Disabled people fall behind in many opportunities in social life compared to normal people . Liam Malone and people like him start life 1-0 behind . They have many problems , but these people never give up . They take their strength from their disability , loved ones , and dreams . It is possible to see many disabled people in sports , art , and other fields . This is something to be proud of .
Consequently , sometimes we get into such a difficult situation , and we feel very helpless and stuck . In such situations , imagining other people ’ s bad experiences , sufferings , and difficulties , thinking of how they overcome them and realizing that there is always a solution to any problem can help us to overcome the obstacles we encounter . Bearing these facts in mind , close your eyes and be grateful for what you have .
