Elon Musk has a theory about the world we are currently living in ; is it all just a video game with millions of people who are part of a computer simulation ? No one can prove we do not live in a ‘ matrix ’. Especially now , in this constantly digitalized world . Digitalization is the adaptation of images , sounds , videos , texts , and people , into the online or digital World . Even though it is a really popular and well-known topic all around the World , the disadvantages need to be talked about more . In a world where everything is digitalized , it is hard not to get affected by its ’ disadvantages . One of the major effects the process of digitalizing everything has on people , is that , digital users cannot get to know the real identity of the people they are talking to at all . Not all people use their digital identities with good intentions . Taking advantage of the fact that an online presence does not have to show their true identities , they can use it for cyberbullying or trolling , stealing or hacking , as well as the outcomes of wasting time and a plethora of other negative social impacts .
Some of the consequences of using digitalization with bad intentions include ; cyberbullying and trolling people . Bullies who want to hurt or harm someone use their anonymous identities to bully others online . It is possible to do so by sharing someone ’ s private pictures and videos without their consent , which can lead to shaming , swearing , and mocking them . Bullies can also spread rumors about their victims and no one will know if they are true or not . Additionally , another disadvantage of digitalization is that it allows people to harm others by hacking their accounts and repeatedly asking them for private information about themselves . This can come without the fear of being caught because they are not using their “ real ” identities .
Another major difficulty and disadvantage of digitalization , is the possibility of having your online identity stolen . When your account is hacked , the hacker or stalker gains direct access to the user ’ s photos , name , address , and the names of friends and family members . Giving the hacker or stalker more information about you . When the hackers have your name , pictures , and address , it will almost certainly lead to a disaster . The hackers can text your friends and family while pretending to be you . Hackers can create an account in your name , if they have your personal information . Even get you in trouble while using your name , which can lead to legal issues , all for the sake of concealing their true selves .
