Digital Citizenship

The concept of digital citizenship was defined by the political scientist Karen Mossberger in 2007 as individuals with technology use skills , using this environment responsibly , and being aware of the rules . If someone describes themselves as a digital citizen , most of the time they use the internet in subjects like education , online banking , shopping , health , but when we take a general look , digital citizenship is not just using the internet like this but using it consciously , so how can we be a digital citizen ?
The internet has become a big part of our lives now . We socialize there as much as we do in the outside environment , like shopping or social media . We should pay attention to our behavior and behave in the way we behave in real life . It may be a shop owner or another person who just wants to comment , but maybe it could be a scammer you cannot trust . Security is important so do not give your phone number and important passwords . Ethics is also vital . You cannot insult another customer because they do not like the product you like , you should not disrespect a person who defends a different or opposite opinion . You can respectfully express your opinion to each other , but there is a limit to this , you should behave as you would if you were face to face . These rules that we apply in our lives are also valid on the internet . It is not difficult at all , we can all become digital citizens by following certain social rules and acting more consciously .
If such things happen to you or if you come across someone who has experienced things like that , you should make a complaint to the relevant places . This way we can make the internet safer place , at least a little .
