Digital citizenship is using the Internet and its other platforms in an ethical and secure way . With the growth of Web 2.0 , it ’ s a concept that has emerged with people ’ s daily activities on the Internet . But , how can we be a good “ digital citizen ”?
Digital Health : A digital citizen should be aware of the physical and mental health problems that may emerge due to overusing such as the Internet , computer , etc . By using these devices for very long time , you may have some health issues such as myopia , and a strong headache . A great digital citizen should be aware of these and should avoid these problems .
Digital Security : Digital security is a dimension that helps people to use the Internet and other devices that connect to the Internet in the most healthy way . When citizens use the Internet , download or upload things , or try to reach out for information , they should do it in the right way with the right sources or they may expect some dangerous software entering into their devices .
Digital Literacy : With digitalism , the term digital literacy has changed a lot . Digital citizens should decide on the right information while getting informed by online devices .
Digital Ethics : While digital citizens are using the Internet and its services , they should be respectful and use it emphatically .
If we think of the Internet as a real universe , we are the real citizens living in it . And while we ’ re living in this universe , we should live in peace and be nice to everyone like we should in our real lives too . I think that everyone can become a good digital citizen if we use it in the right way as I wrote earlier .
With the increase in technology usage , people and even children have become real parts of this universe . But what if it ’ s not that good ?
A research that was conducted in 2019 shows that overusing the Internet and its devices makes depressive people feel even worse . You ’ re becoming hostages of the Internet , while it grows out .
