“ Are we ready to start the process ?’’ He was a former scientist just like you were . His name was Connor if you weren ’ t mistaken , might you add he was also too oblivious for his own good sometimes . Everything was already set up and Kelsey had also seemed like he was over his “ trembling phase ’’ and accepted the fate that was awaiting him . He was mumbling to himself saying that it would be alright , but to be honest you were not quite ready yet , you were having an internal conflict with yourself . Huh , funny , isn ’ t it ? You were the one who had suggested this project in the first place , creating a machine so big and advanced was all your idea but even after all that , you were the one to chicken out in the end as always . Guess this was a trait of yours . You could look like a genius and then change into a coward within a second . You started to realize that your breathing was becoming unstable and your body temperature was getting higher with each second that was passing , that was not good , you were a professional for God ’ s sake ! ‘ I have to stabilize my breathing ’ you thought to yourself and did just that . That was when you realized all your colleagues were looking at you . Mary stepped forward and asked “ Mark , are you alright , you were trembling like a leaf that got scattered away from the force of the wind .’’ She looked genuinely concerned for your well-being , you were lucky to have her as a friend . You gave her a small smile . “ I ’ m alright Mary , just had some things that were clouding my mind . Sorry if I worried you and Connor , we are ready to start to process , I thought it was obvious .’’ It really was obvious , you could literally hear the metal crunching noises the machine gave away because of just getting started , it gave away other nasty noises too . Connor sent a thumbs up towards your direction with a smile that was blossoming on his face . They moved the machine closer to Kelsey . The boy had cables all wrapped around him but most of them were on his forehead since the main purpose was to examine his brain functions . The cables were also connected to the machine . This way Kelsey could lay down on the machine and with this connection they could function as one . With the machine getting connected to Kelsey , all Kelsey ’ s movements were now able to get transferred to the machine ’ s system . The machine ’ s basic purpose was to make their host ’ s movements available in the virtual world . While the host wasn ’ t moving their body parts , they were still able to move freely in the virtual world , like walking , running or lifting up their arm . This was because the thing the machine focused on and showed reliance to was the host ’ s brain functions and their thought process . Even if the host was paralyzed and couldn ’ t walk around , they could still freely move their bodies in the virtual world . That was why you thought this machine could solve a lot of health issues in the first place ; well , not really . Think of Kelsey as an example . He is a child who is suffering from stage 4 cancer . There was still not a cure that could save a patient that was already experiencing stage 4 . This basically meant that Kelsey was going to die pretty soon . His face was getting paler as the time passed by . You could see the agony in his eyes , his dull and lifeless looking eyes . It was undeniable
