Digitally literate is a word we commonly hear in our daily lives . Lots of people have an opinion on the meaning of digitally literate . However , the actual number of people that know the real meaning is worrying . Being digitally literate is simply having the skills you need to live , learn , and work in an online society . Everybody thinks that they have these skills but we still have problems regarding online communities such as slang language , rude debates and insulting others . That ’ s the reason why we will be writing about the role of education for raising digitally literate citizens .
Before starting to raise awareness with seminars or making it a part of the curriculum at schools , every citizen should be told what being digitally literate actually means . After making sure that everyone fully understands it , the main point about digital literacy is the importance of critical thinking . I believe students should be taught how to think critically . This would make people think more deeply on what they comment on , what they post , what they talk about and how they talk in general network . Then , people should be taught about learning and collaborating online .
Most people would probably say that they have already know what online learning is but the actual number of people that check what they read online is worryingly less . Learning these skills would help people not only in their digital universe , it would also help their normal lives . Avoiding plagiarism is also very crucial , people should be reminded that they need to write the sources they used in their articles or basic things such as a slideshow . Finally , people should be taught about how to manage , come against digital distractions . This is not something that should be overlooked . Simple but effective things could be done to prevent them such as muting notifications while studying .
