Have you ever heard or thought about digital citizenship ? If your answer is no , I really recommend you read this . First of all , what is digital citizenship ?
A digital citizen is a citizen who can criticize when using information and communication resources , knows the ethical consequences of his online behaviour , can make ethical online decisions , does not abuse technology , and encourages the right behaviour when communicating and collaborating in the digital world .
We talked about what a digital citizen means , but what is more important is how to be a good digital citizen , what are the characteristics of these people ?
1 . Emphasize the importance of online etiquette
Perhaps the most talked-about aspect of being a good digital citizen is communicating kindly with others .
When sending a digital message or comment on social media , it ’ s much easier to use harsh , degrading words that we would never use in person . That ’ s part of the reason why cyberbullying has become such a problem .
2 . Report illegal activities and bad behaviour
Authorities emphasize that an important part of being a good digital citizen is to report suspicious activities and cyberbullying to prevent more cases in the future . If you see someone involved in cyberbullying , you should report their account immediately . Additionally , if someone is posting something that may be illegal , you should report it as well .
3 . Protect and change your passwords regularly
Protecting your passwords and updating them frequently makes it harder for hackers to find your information . Otherwise , your information will fall into the wrong hands and your information will be used by hackers in places we do not want .
The rules are not limited to these above , but these are also very important . If these rules are understood and considered , the Internet , which facilitates the work of all digital citizens and gives them confidence , becomes safe for all users .
