In the past few years , the world has changed a lot , but its change is incomparable to the change humanity had faced . We have developed so much that we cannot understand if we have become stronger morally and socially . That is the point where arguments about digitalization and digital citizenship start .
First , a proper digital citizen is someone who can criticize while using information and communication sources , someone who knows the consequences of what has been done on the internet , somebody who can take morally correct decisions on digital media , etc . However , how many proper citizens do we even have that we can wait for proper usage of the internet ? Digitalization has so many effects on society , even though the essence of society never changes .
We have to be a part of it even though you stop when you face a wall . The world will still revolve around itself . Humanity will keep growing , so why keep ourselves away from the product of our era . We lead the new era ’ s destiny so we have to take responsibility in that area and be proper examples for next generations or generation by generation we will corrode ourselves .
All the harm you can see outside has a copy on the internet because although the conditions change , humans are the same . You can protect yourself from robbery to violence , however , you need a little of attention and knowledge . Our problems are still the same after all those bloody wars . After all those genocides , we can still argue about human rights and query about it . We still argue about racism as if it has any logic . We still could not reach that general intelligence level , and digital media is also effective on that because senseless contents there take our time , wash our brains , then leave us taking our identities .
In the end , digital citizenship is our heritage to the next generation , but it is a human product ; therefore , it contains all the corruption we have . We have to be conscious about it . We are the next generation responsible for the next generation . Our fight is against humanity ’ s own corruption not against an object or thought .
