Digital Citizenship

This article discusses the concept of digital citizenship which has emerged to fulfill the responsibilities of citizens to use their rights and opportunities , and at the same time to continue their daily lives in the society they belong to . Although digital citizenship is defined as the behavioral norms regarding the use of technology in the most general context , it includes ethical and appropriate behaviors and being informed about this issue while using technology .

As determined by the Educational Technology Presenter and Consultant Mike Ribble , there are 9 elements of digital citizenship that enable educators to better understand digital citizenship and transfer it to their students in the most accurate way as a result of various researches . This framework has been designed in a flexible structure to focus on technology issues foreseen for today and the future . These elements include : Digital Access which means being a part of the digital society ; Digital Commerce which refers to being aware of the risks and problems associated with e-commerce ; Digital Communication , i . e , having the opportunity to exchange information electronically ; Digital Literacy which means having knowledge of technology and technology usage ; Digital Ethics which means complying with the code of conduct in the digital society ; Digital Security indicates taking security measures in digital environments ; Digital Rights and Responsibilities which indicate freedoms enjoyed by everyone in the digital world ; Digital Health , which can be described as being physically and psychologically comfortable in the digital world ; and finally , Digital Law which means being responsible for actions in the digital world .
