The Impact Of The Digital Citizenship On The Structure Of The Societies

Sezin MALYEMEz

In fact , “ Digital Citizenship ’’ is a buzzword for humanity at present . Since the invention of the Internet , there had been so many improvements happened such as passing from the oneway information flow to versatile information flow ( web 1.0 - web 3.0 ) or creating a digital universe called “ Metaverse ’’, and so the radical changes in this manner recast the meaning of the citizenship . Thus , the notion of “ Citizenship ’’ had become a digital concept .
Succinctly , political scientist Karen Mossbeger identifies Digital citizenship as “ the ability to participate in society online ”. This definition shows that societies are transforming to be “ digital ” and people will need to have specific skills to adapt to this new form . In addition , we have met a new word called “ Society
5.0 ’’ or “ Super Smart Society ’’. This sense of community aspires solutions to social problems by integrating the new technologies and creating an anthropocentric society . Artificial intelligence analysis and interconnecting the objects and systems are some of the most significant innovations society 5.0 reveals to humanity . If we take advantage of this opportunity , that could change the world and mostly the socio-political climates .
Nonetheless , I would like to say that we have to take a democratic and ethical step to create a new social structure . Because in my estimation , if we don ’ t change our sense of decency , constituting new digital universes or building technology into our social life gets it out of perspective and obstructs our progress .
