Through the Internet , there is digitalization in every sphere of our lives . In today ’ s digital world , you can see a world-famous company offering hefty sums of money to those who can hack them , or a corporation designing its job advert in a software language . Due to this digitalization , a new thing called “ digital citizenship ” has appeared in our lives . To be a good digital citizen , you must use the Internet securely , show empathy towards others , and be a responsible person .
The first rule of being a good citizen is to be safe . Most of the users are ignorant of the dark side of the digital world . But a good digital citizen knows how to stand clear of the dangerous side of the Internet . They are aware of how to reach the information safely .
The second rule is , people need to put themselves in other people ’ s shoes . People are not considered to be good citizens unless they care for others . It seems to be a very little thing , but one should keep in mind that these little things are the things that separate us from others and make us good digital citizens .
Last but not least , a good digital citizen always steps up to the plate . The essential thing is to take responsibility and to think about the consequences of your behaviour . Otherwise , you are anything but a good digital citizen .
To sum up ; avoiding the dangers in the digital world , being able to walk in someone else ’ s shoes , and taking responsibility are required to be a good digital citizen . Nowadays , computers are everywhere . The matters is how they are used and what they are used for .
