Kate Delaney is a talented graphic designer, working in Lawrence, Massachusetts as part of the creative team for a local restaurant called El Taller. A graduate of the Massachusetts school of Arts, Kate started out as a freelance artist focusing on illustration and later graphic design. Along the way she picked up techniques and styles to add to her own to grow as an artist. Her work is mostly influenced by artist like Yuko Shimizu, Edgar Nanded Saner, Alina Chau, and Meg Hunt but also by signage and typography that you would see in the streets.
We got a peek into Kate’s artistic process, and speciality in watercolor. Now her process in watercolor begins like any other. Starting from thumbnails, to preliminary sketches which would later be transferred onto watercolor paper. But the next step is what separates kate’s process from many of the others. she lays down some masking fluid to save the bright highlights. Then she pours her primary colors onto the paper, allowing it to mix and create a very organic values and colors-
