Gwinn Narrows Road intersects with Highway 58 north of Decatur. On the death of G.W. Guinn, the property was sold to George Miller. When the house burned, Miller built a brick house. Finley is not sure, but thinks the ladies may be G.W. Guinn’s wife and one of his daughters. Joseph invented a typewriter first known as the Fisher-Smith. E.G. Fisher, a prominent Athens banker, assisted in the financing of the invention. The typewriter was later renamed L.C. Smith and Sons and when the patent was sold to the Corona Company in Ohio, it became known as the SmithCorona Company. Joseph also invented a bookkeeping machine and a water turbine, which was used in several area mills. Others include off-road motorcycles with a faulty fuel hose and children’s pajamas that don’t meet federal flammability standards. Here’s a more detailed look: CHAIRS DETAILS: Crawley II executive chairs sold at Office Depot and OfficeMax retail stores nationwide and online from October 2012 through September 2015. The affected chairs have Office Depot SKU number 493822 or OfficeMax item number 23324118 and “US REG. No. PA 25917(CN)” printed on a label located on the underside of the seat cushion. WHY: The seat plate weld can break, posing a fall hazard to consumers. INCIDENTS: About 300,000. HOW MANY: Eight reports of the seat plate weld cracking or breaking. No injuries have been reported.
