Friday 17:18 - 17:36
RACE 7 Saturday 15:10 - 15:30 RACE 16 Sunday 14:10 - 14:30

There is so much in the entry list for the pre-1966 Grand Prix races that is worthy of note as another fabulous array of cars from the HGPCA come to the grid . These beautiful cars , driven with energy and commitment by owners and their chosen drivers , remain one of the absolute highlights of The Classic with races on both Saturday and Sunday .

Since 1979 , Historic Grand Prix Cars Association ( HGPCA ) members have striven passionately to preserve the heritage of the titanic machines - and their courageous drivers - which made motor racing history at the highest level .
The HGPCA story revisits the great rivalries of five decades , running through to the exquisite 1.5-litre ‘ cigar tubes ’ of 1961- ’ 65 . It also replays the inter-marque battles between cars with supercharged and naturallyaspirated engines at the birth of the Formula One World Championship in 1950 , and its subsequent 2.5-litre era which saw the development of chassis with engines behind their drivers ( an advance actually pioneered by Auto Union pre-war !)
In celebrating history and technical innovation , and educating new generations of motor racing fans about the past , the Association also focus on the heroic driving of Tazio Nuvolari , Alberto Ascari , Juan Manuel Fangio , Stirling Moss , Mike Hawthorn , Jack Brabham , the Hills ( Phil and Graham ), Jim
Clark and John Surtees in Grands Prix often fought out over three hours .
In 2022 , the HGPCA has already raced at Donington Park and Oulton Park . In Europe , they have been at Pau and Val de Vienne in France , Zandvoort in Holland and the 49th edition of the Old-Timer Grand Prix at the Nurburgring . After The Classic comes the wonderful Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium before the schedule completes in Spain ( Navarra ) and Portugal ( Portimao ).
Fans really will be spoilt for choice as the grid features a wonderful array of cars showcasing the rich history of Grand Prix racing .
The HGPCA story perfectly tracks the progress of modern Grand Prix racing from the early 1950s through nearly 15 years of enormous change in car design and race car technology . Some of the earliest cars are the wonderful Cooper Bristols from the early 1950s , the twolitre Bristol engined cars from the Formula 2 category , and it is drivers like Ian Nuthall and Chris Phillips who lead the way .
